My friend, who's usually right on when he flips out over something, has been raving for the past 2 days about the new Lupe Fiasco record, so much so that he listened to it 5 times today.
This is a guy who isn't easily drawn to hip-hop, so I figured it must be some crazy good shit (which would explain the year or so of buzz I've heard about him). Got home a little while ago, pulled the record up on Rhapsody and...
I'm not getting it. At all.
's OK, I guess, if you dig someone taking a different spin on the exact same production and ideas as Kanye. Decent flow — OK, better than decent on a few songs.
But overall I just don't think there's anything exceptional going on here.
Anyone got some other opinions and/or insight on this to help me out?
