Our at least our mayor has pronounced it such. Everything in New Orleans shuts down at 3:00 per Nagin's orders to get ready for tonight. As much as I dislike the idea of Louisiana subsidizing football, I'm pretty pumped for tonight. Feels more like Mardi Gras than actual Mardi Gras did.

As far as the game goes, I think Atlanta wins in a squeaker.

I considered starting a thread titled "I'm already sick of the hype surrounding the Saints/Falcons game."

For those that care, I just heard that Green Day starts at 7:20 doing that "Wake Me Up", followed by U2 and Green Day doing the song they just wrote together, followed by U2 doing "Beautiful Day"

I think most of the schools in New Orleans have also suspended their dress codes to allow the kids to wear Saints gear.

To benefit Edge's charity that give instruments to New Orleans musicians who lost theirs in the storm.

What does geography have to do with why you write a song? I mean who was Ethiopian amongst the crew that brought us "Do They Know Its Christmas?"

Also, no one in Louisiana is literate enough to write their names, let alone a schlocky song.

my main question was why they, instead of some local artists, were performing. the song is just a formality, but now i know.

Our illerates have been instrumental in founding Jazz, Blues, R&B, Funk, and Rock'N'Roll.

In all seriousness, it just hit me that this is probably because they would have had to have a black performing and you know how that riles 'em up. Teenage pregnancy might skyrocket.

Also I'd like to thank FEMA for giving THEM some money to buy season tickets with, and thus creating the first ever season ticket sellout.

Also, Z, this would be a case study in how to market THE FUCK out of a regional game, gin up some support for ESPN's Monday Night numbers, and let Larry Mullen, Jr. get caught up in some Dickie Waiver shenangans on Rue Bourbon.

Hey Tanner, what's your reaction to this nugget from Peter King's column today:

Quote:
There's speculation brewing that, when the Saints eventually get around to seeking a new stadium, an aggressive politician like Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour might lure them 35 miles from New Orleans, to the Mississippi border, where the communities of Jackson, Biloxi and Gulfport might more staunchly support the team and turn it into a "Gulf Coast Saints'' concept.

And get some desperately needed money flowing in the bars and resturants in Quarter.

If that's what happens I'm fine with it. Louisiana has way too many problems to keep pumping money into the Saints. I thought the State should have told Benson to go eff himself the last time he threatened to leave.

We wouldn't waste time talking about a 1-2 team, just kidding
I always thought the Saints had a dark brown and gold look, possibly even a black and tan look, but never would have said black and gold.

It's too bad that Tulane/LSU game this weekend wasn't more competitive.

We actually have gold as a color as opposed to yellow but I could see how it can be mistakened for tan.

LSU is really good this year. I wouldn't be surprised if Auburn is are only loss.

And, really, if that were played in Red Stick, the outcome may have been different. Even the Auburn homers over here are admitting they feel like they squeaked one out.
