Mississippi John Hurt - Stack O'Lee Blues
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Stagger Lee
Black Keys - Stack Shot Billy

It's all i can think of right now.

Song's been covered a bazillion times and it's not possible to have heard them all, but some versions I've liked:

Lloyd Price (duh.)
Wilson Pickett
Taj Mahal
Professor Longhair
Tim Hardin
Wilbert Harrison
Jerry Lee Lewis
Fats Domino

James Brown
Elvis
Sidney Bechet
Ike & Tina Turner
Furry Lewis
Ma Rainey
Archibald
Waring's Pennsylvanians
Frank Hutchinson
Woody Guthrie
Dave Van Ronk
The Clash (sorta)
The Grateful Dead

there's literaly hundreds if not thousands of versions, though my favorite will always be the Lloyd Price and maybe the Furry Lewis ones. Every year on the wqeek of Stagger Lee day (it's all based on a more or less true story), this site posts about forty different versions.

the song hasn't really been 'covered' a bazillion times, the topic has been covered a bazillion times.

Nick Cave's and Mi'sip John Hurt's are my two favourites though.

Wilson Pickett

I haven't heard many others except the James Brown and Nick Cave ones and didn't like them much.

Everytime I hear a reference to "Stagger Lee," I cringe in pain remembering the botched Mike Rozier halfback pass called by Jerry Glanville deep in their own end in an Oilers playoff loss at Denver. Fucking Glanville. What a tool.
