But where to start? Possible here...

Baffling Affair In The County Hospital Dorothy Deming, 1962

Debbie Hayes stopped short in alarm as a big white truck, bearing the words WILSON’S DAIRY, roared past her in the street, far too close for comfort. She backed hastily to the curb but the truck was so near she could feel the rush of air from its passing, as the indignant, flushed face of the driver scowled from the cab window.

Debbie knew she had been inexcusably stupid in not paying attention to the traffic lights on this busy city thoroughfare. If the driver had not shouted — Just then she saw that the milk truck had drawn up to the curb a few yards down the street and the driver was striding toward her. He was a gangling young man in a white suit with WILSON’S DAIRY printed in green letters on the jacket. His round face was still red, his blue eyes blazed and his white cap seemed to be rising in fury above a mop of copper-colored hair.

“Sister, haven’t you ever heard of traffic lights? I honked and honked, but you kept right on coming against the red light.” He was close to her now, scanning her with curiosity. Then his tone changed to gentleness. “Gee, you’re a nurse and look at your shoes! I’m sorry. I couldn’t help hitting that puddle.”

Debbie looked down at her white oxfords and nylon hose. They were spattered with dirty water. Only her full length rain-or-shine coat had protected her clean uniform.

Cherry Ames - Dude Ranch Nurse Julie Tatham, 1953

“Welcome to the sunshine city!” Cherry stared forlornly at the big placard. Tucson certainly deserved its nickname, but there was nobody at the Municipal Airport to welcome here. The waiting room, a glass-fronted portion of three huge hangars, made her feel as though she were surrounded by miles and miles of planes. After a while she wandered over to a bench and sat down with her suitcase and coat at her feet.

What could have happened to Kirk?

When Cherry had left her home in Hilton, Illinois, it had been snowing hard. And when she boarded the plane in Chicago that morning, she had been grateful for the warmth of her interlined coat. But now, here in Arizona, although it was five o’clock on a Sunday afternoon in late February, she was almost too warm in her smart red flannel suit and wished she had worn her white Nylon blouse instead of a sweater.

But she had been told that as soon as the sun dropped down behind the mountains the air would grow steadily cooler and so she had packed in her bag some twin sweater sets and a warm sports jacket. In the bat, too, were seven white uniforms and caps, a bathing suit, T-shirts, a bright checkered cowboy shirt which her twin brother, Charlie, had given her, blue jeans, donated by her father who said that in Arizona they were called “Levis”; new, shiny riding boots, a gift from her mother, and from Cherry’s harum-scarum young neighbor, Midge Fortune, an atomizer containing Cherry’s favorite brand of perfume.

Second Year Nurse - Nancy Kimball at City Hospital Carli Lakan, 1967

Nancy Kimball and her new friends at City Hospital barely escape being caught forming a secret society after lights-out. Then they win a full grown and gobbling Thanksgiving turkey and secretly keep him, until he escapes, in the baggage room of their dormitory. These are just two of the escapades that provide Nancy with fun and excitement in her second year of nurse’s training.

However, when she learns that two of her new friends have endangered the life of a patient, Nancy’s conscience and training take over and she realizes she must report them, although this will cause trouble between her and her classmates.

Problems mount. How Nancy eventually copes with them makes exciting and enjoyable reading for girls.

And if you didn't like the sound of any of them there are plenty more here
