Not sure what you call it, as I am not usually a fan of this type of music.
But for some reason I like this guy:
The Flashbulb - "Brown #12"
Code:

There's something interesting about what he does, beyond beats, there's usually an interesting melody, too.

Even if it's not usually your bag o' weed, check it out. You can always delete the damn thing.

It's something different from me.
Hope you dig.

didnt listen to the track, but I do know that it infuriates Dalen and Dri when I refer to all electronic music as "techno" so there's that.

ok listened. that tune is a very basic downtempo track. this sound was popular around 1997-99. Skam influenced keys, untouched drum loops and hats. decent.

where'd you find this Todd? definitely a different pick for you.

oh and Yail, it's the term "electronica" that i despise ;)

Well, this was released in 2000, so that makes sense.

As far as where I found this...
I put together a willfully eclectic bill at a club here in Chicago back in '00:
It was me (acoustic), MOTO (punk band), a country band, a pop/soul siren, and this guy.

His name is Benn, and he was a pretty cool guy. I found him through a now-deceased site called: www.chicagolocalbands.com

EDIT: Oh, and there is another "electronica" (for lack of a better term, sorry) artist that I like pretty well. He's a hella nice kid from The Netherlands named Ludo and goes by the name "Multi-Panel". I'll have to bring in some of his stuff for you to hear.

But here's his AllMusic listing:
