I am writing to tell you that I am sending you the balance of the student loan I have accrued with your company. This afternoon I waited AN ENTIRE FUCKING HOUR for your customer service representative to talk to me via telephone only in the end to have your service hang up on me. I was calling to obtain the total payoff amount for my loan but since I can never get in touch with anyone in your office either by phone or online I am sending you a check for $450.00 which should cover any final costs for closing my account. Thus, I have written this letter in an attempt to contact a living, breathing human being that can meet my needs. I hope that your company has someone who reads their mail because they certainly are not answering any of their telephones. If you have any questions regarding my account or my experiences with your totally useless customer service department, feel free to contact me at the address or telephone number I have included below. I promise not to put you on hold and be forced to listen to a recorded message that repeats, “your phone call is very important to us” every thirty seconds.

Sincerely,

south pacific

About five years ago, I sent my Student Loan Company over $13,000 to pay off the loan in full. They started billing me again last month, because APPARENTLY, I didn't obtain the correct payoff amount, and there was still a couple hundred dollars balance remaining.

FUCK THEM IN THE ASS!!!

Why on earth would one pay off a student loan early? Apart from a first mortgage, student loans are the best debt to have. Unless you went to college in the early 80's and haven't refinanced a double digit interest rate, you aren't going to find cheaper money. If you've got a spare couple grand, there's much better use for it--say a an index fund.

They must hate having such a literate clientele.

Dude, his balance was less than $450.

No debt is better than a little debt.
I can't wait until all my debts are gone. I calculate 8 more years and then I'll have an extra $700 a month to live like a rich bastard.
