I do realize that we are basically a music board but I don't see the need to put NMR in the subject line. Whether it's a topic about What you ate for lunch or about Michael Vick receiving an MVP vote we can obviously tell what the thread is about from the subject. And if people get their panties in a knot because it ain't about music, so what. Don't open the thread.

To me putting NMR in the subject line is a little redundant. Like saying ATM Machine or Buttless Chaps.

You should put NMR in front of a thread title if the title is ambigious.

For instance "Look at this!" or "This is really great!" could be about anything so it's only proper to place a NMR in front of them (provided of course it is NMR)

However "I Just Skipped Backwards Round Tashkent" is clearly not music related, but rather about someone skipping backwards round the capital of Kazhakstan.

So that's the etiquette my fine fellow. Or at least it should be.

But for all I know "Backwards Round Tashkent" is a song you just skipped.

(I voted "no".)

For the record, it's ass-less pantaloon alternatives.

Further, when I need money, but my banking branch is neither near-by nor open, I say, "I shall visit the automated teller." I don't even bother saying machine. 'Cause there are so many things that could be called machine today; cars, vibrators, home appliances that are not vibrators, ipods. Machination is just kind of implied then, now-a-days.

I don't think we really need it as so many topics are not really musical, and I think of this as an almost everything board!

You should have a fourth option: 'What does NMR mean?'

Or is that the same as the third option?

Which is kind of the same as the second option.

Or maybe we should just keep away from ambigious subject lines. They always annoy me anyway, and it is always hard to find a thread a second time without the subject cues on the first page. A NMR doesn't help if the title is stupid to begin with.

Seconded!

I'm going to start boycotting threads with ambiguous subject lines.

Who's with me?

I think, since there are more non music related posts in the rock pop forum than music related ones, when someone has a thread that is actually about music they should write, "MR:". It's sort of a given that the thread isnt about music. :)

NMR (or the lack thereof) does not bother me. But then again, not much bothers me.

Do we need to stage an intervention? You have really got to stop drinking, or at least become a functional drunk like LooGAR and the A*Town Boyz.

None of this "soon" stuff. I'm going to need a projected release date, please.

Well there is the ill-fated project of Loogar and mine's:

Johnny Taint and the Cans of Piss

The project never really got off the ground due to massive alcohol and drug abuse. There were legal issues as well. There have been rumors of a reunion though.

Some track titles off hand:

Monger til it don't hurt no more
You're so gar you make me wanna cry
Sex with a power saw
Muscles don't help when you're gay

That last track never made to pressing due to huge flack taken from GLAD.

And my magnum opus/ the piece de mongerdance "The Ode to Ending It All"

This may see release in 2010 or so...probably after a few stints in rehab, and after I have my engorged heart transplanted with that of a pig.

I really don't care if it's MR, NMR, ER, DR, PR whatever! Are you people really that ANAL about your posts? Sheesh.

And can I ask, wtf is an indie opinion? I remember seeing it on CMJ, but never understood the context of it.

Ya, ummmm, I didn't really mean for this topic to get all that much attention. I was just bored and wanted to start a topic. I'm glad to see 1/3 of the people that voted told me poll was stupid. That's what I strive for. Stupidity.

I think it's just a way of saying, "Hey what's everyone's opinion about _______". Since the board is mostly concerning "indie" music the boarders' opinions are considered indie. Dig it??

ps- Pumachik, did you end up spending NYE here in Vancouver? How was it??
