sorry, but "elliot" comes before "the"

you know, when its a bands name, "the" aint no article.

Since Ben Folds Five is the 'band' name I put them in 'B' but I have Ben Folds as an individual under 'F'

I don't like it much but it seems 'correct' to me.

They go under 'F' and go chrono for me, but that's only when Folds went solo - prior to that, they were under 'B'.

same for ben folds. never really understood why people bother filing by last name since it requires you to know whether an artist name is a band name or real name

I do have them as:

Elliott Smith - Xo
The Smithereens - Especially For You
The Smiths - s/t
The Smiths - Meat Is Murder

but for some reason, I was thinking Smithereens should go before Elliott which makes no sense.

I generally think of self-titled releases as if they are untitled. So they go at the beginning of all other releases.

The Smiths, along with R.E.M., are one of the only two bands in my catalogue that I have in chronological order though. Everything else is alpha.
