I need ideas - I have exhausted my own supply of stuff, and need inspiration.

What I'm looking for are products that were designed and then mass-produced, and something about their design is either very good (with regard to safety) or very bad. Basically, if someone sat down and designed this thing and they did a great job, or a remarkably bad job, with regard to your safety (not security), then it's fair game.

For example, the smoke detectors in my house are all wirelessly linked. When one goes off, they all do. Thus, if the guy upstairs falls asleep with a lit cig and catches hisdamnself on fire, when his bedroom detector goes off, all the rest do too immediately. Good design.

Or the metal bed frames with sharp corners... those are just dumb.

This is for that product design class, and I have to draw 2 or 3 of each tonight. Could be clothing, electronics, automotive, kitchen, etc. YSI of your choice from my awful music collection, should that for some reason be enticing (it won't). Or I'll take and post humors pics. Whatever it takes.

Gotta be current. Plus he knows I drive a bike, not a pinto.

Right idea tho!

Do your glasses fog up on your bike when you've got your helmet on?

Yes. What's the failure? Non-coated glass lenses?

I'm still working on these. Feel free to chip one in, should something occur to anyone... (smile)?

someone should invent a good way to clean a cheese grater so that you don't destroy your sponge. Or if they have, someoe should tell me about it.

i always thought this was a simple and neat design. when you are done with the blades you put them in tha tlittle slit up front so you don't rip up your trash bag or accidentally stab yourself.

I can't find a picture of it but Grumman Canoes have this little square raised piece of metal in the boat that apparently serves no purpose other than to slice your foot open on.

Huh. Megan's uncle has an old Grumman. For no other reason but morbid curiosity, I'll have to ask him abt this.

I guess I am too late, but I want books with plastic pages for babies. We have these cardboard books that the kids love looking through, but they end of chewing on them and they fall apart. Make some out of plastic so that doesn't happen. (Cloth books generally suck.)

Bad bad design--the foil safety covering on motor oil bottles. I live in mortal fear of not removing these properly and having flakes of foil pouring into the oil pan.

Great old things that have been designed away: automobile vent windows.

Try a dishwasher or a one of those little scrubbers for vegetables.

Cheese graters are easy, what I need is a way to clean all the stringy bits out of the garlic press.
