New film from Hedwig writer/director/star John Cameron Mitchell.

I don't even know if it's out yet or if it's getting a regular distribution. But I know it's been at a bunch of film festivals and such.

I just found out that a former MuchMusic VJ performs unsimulated intercourse and masturbation in it.

I was already interested in seeing it but now I'm doubly so.

I was just reading about this movie last week. It's playing at the Chicago International Film Festival (I'll start a thread about that later) and I'm pretty excited to see it.

How does this compare to the Milw Intl Film Fest? &, does it overlap with it?

As to Shortbus, any movie about unbridled sexuality in the wake of 9/11 that shares its name with the mode of transport that the handicapped kids took to school is alright with me. Let's just hope it's not wholly ghey. Or, at least, let some of teh ghey be lesbian.

Exactly. I love the homos, though.

I don't know about the MIFF because up until 2006, I hated Milwaukee with every ounce of my being. I also don't know dates for the Milwaukee festival. But, I can say that if you come to Chicago for some of the movies, you'll most likely have a viewing partner.

In a totally random new york kind of way, i ended up at the afterparty for the premier last night, though i did not see the movie. It was, as one might imagine, a total fleshfair. However, i left before it became the coked up orgy it was meant to be and likely became.

i saw the preview for this last night when i went to see science of sleep, i'm definitely interested in checking this movie out.

I saw Shortbus last night.

Not a bad film. Lots and lots and LOTS of nudity and sex. And not just regular old nudity. Masturbation, gay sex, straight sex, lots of penis handling, etc. The story was interesting... three couples (gay couple entertaining the idea of an "open" relationship; straight couple who are missing the mark sexually; depressed dominatrix & client who happens to be her longest relationship ever) whose stories become intertwined. Unfortunately, about 3/4 of the way through, it started to get really boring... like, thinking about what to have for lunch tomorrow boring. It picked up at the end and all was well. Sook's pretty hot in the movie. I enjoyed her character and acting quite a bit. Oh, and the dominatrix bit was totally wrong. She was flogging one guy right in the kidneys. That's like rule number one in dommeworld. Leave the kidneys alone!

The soundtrack was pretty great. Yo La Tengo supplied a great deal of the music and there were song dancey songs tossed in there which I need to figure out the names/artists so I can download them and dance.

See it if you're not squeamish about a lot of sex.
