ok...i know nothing about this band. i just got their soon to be released disc and think its freakin great.

their last album (2003) got great reviews from the critics
http://www.metacritic.com/music/artists ... memonster/

i am blown away by this disc - very very interesting album....fans of arcade fire, tv on the radio, mogwai would enjoy this.

please if you are interested - PM me.....

from AMG:
Portland, OR-based experimental rock group Menomena is a trio that consists of multi-instrumentalists Justin Harris, Brent Knopf, and Danny Seim. They assembled much of their debut album, I Am the Fun Blame Monster!, by using a computer program dubbed Deeler and developed by Knopf. The album's unusual packaging was in the form of a flipbook depicting the bandmembers performing. Menomena released it themselves on a very limited basis in 2003, then signed to the Portland independent label FILMguerrero for a national release in October 2004, accompanied by a national tour.

What's the street date on this? I just recently found a copy of their debut used (finally) but have not spent more than a couple spins time devoted to it. Too many great releases dropped in the last month and a half. I will definitely be picking this up when it drops based on your recommend.

their debut was really good, really unique. one of those records that you hope to find once in a year just on the strength of how different it sounds from everything else...

i saw this band open for long winters and was pretty much totally bored with them. i got a poor man's secret machines vibe from a lot of songs. when i finally got around to hearing them recorded, i liked it a little more. i guess i'm still chugging it through it to hear what sticks.

i'm having a great first listen, which is particularly welcome after the most recent time i saw them live. but i expected this record to sound much better on disc than in person, so i'm not that surprised. either way, so far so very good.

Thanks, Timis for the recdn.!!

Looking forward to spinning this. Always great to discover a new band that stands apart; not an easy feat to do, these days.

Cheers,

Bill

My god, when the first song started, I was like, what the hell is this crap. I don't like this and then WHAM this song nailed me. I am only one track in but I LOVE this first track. Extremely anticipatory for the rest.

oh yeah, and one more thing:

I have never heard this band pronounced in real life so is it

1. meen-oh-meen-uh

or

2. me-nah-me-nuh?
