What is with all this newfound love for them. They were awful when they were a 3rd rate At the Drive In/Thursday knock off band, they're awful as an aremo (arena + emo, get it, har har) rock band.

Now everyone I know is raving about this garbage.

STOP!

oddly enough, the first time I saw MCR was at a CMJ party in 2002 or 2003 (I can't remember) I was standing with a girl at reprise (their current label) when she said "who are these guys, I totally want to get them signed" and I said "what, no, they suck"

I guess this is why I never made it into the A&R world.

Well, for starters - being in A&R is all about what will actually sell, not what "sucks" or not.

that may be true, but they were pretty damn horrible...I didn't think that would sell at all except in the indie/tardcore world.

I respect the ambition and the drama and the aesthetics or whatever, but the songs I've heard are kinda candyassed dressed up in spooky clothing.

Singing painful shit over refried major key changes seems kinda odd to me.

Is this the same singer dude who was doing paintings on an easel(sp?) outside his tour bus, mentioned in Rolling Stone?

if you have on demand there's a free show of theirs from Philly. What's crazy is that at the beginning the douchehat from mtv goes out on stage and says something to the effect of "this concert will change modern music forever" and then later, he SAYS IT AGAIN. I fucking hate that guy
