I'm going to a roller derby recruitment party on December 7th.

I want to think of a derby name. A good one. I know that it's a long way off, but I'm excited.

Thread number two:
I saw the Hold Steady last night. Everyone seemed to be dressed similarly (casual to clean-cut for indie rock guys), then there was the keyboard player who was wearing a tie, a weird kangol-like cap, a vest and had a slight handlebar moustache. He was dressed so different from the other band members, that it got me thinking about what I'd wear if I was to join a band. Like if you're that guy, the oddball of the band, what would your style be?

I'd like to dress up really girly and hot in a band of all dirty guys.

Really conserative and straight laced looking.

The first thing I would suggest about names is to check Yahoo for names that are already taken, there is some sort of list or link on that site to names that are taken. You aren't even suppose to have one that is remotely similar or a variation of one on the list. I can ask someone tonight at the practice I am working what the site is called and post it on here later.
I know alot of girls around here base their name off their real name or nickname and/or physical appearance. Girls who are big and busty often have names that imply that.

What team or league are you trying to join? Lincoln is playing the Chi Town Sirens on Friday. Are you joining the real league in Chicago that isn't really playing any outside league team.

I sent an email to the Windy City Rollers. I think that's the league as a whole and then there are teams within it. Actually, I was just doing some reading about WCR..

I think you guys are goin' against the St. Louis team, either this weekend or some time soon.

Chicks that kick ass rock. Go for it...good fun and good exercise and all that...good way to meet fun people. My wife was gonna join a team down here, but they practice like a half hour away and buying skates and all that time and expense turned her off.

Oh..and you can always rip off an old name from the Germs bass player and go with Lorna Doom.

Or how about going with the red theme with something like Commie Connie and get a hammer and sickle patch on the ass of your shorts or something.

There are 4 teams under the Windy City Rollers umbrella but there's also another completely separate Chicago league - The Chi-Town Sirens - as mentioned earlier. You made the right choice by contacting WCR, but I am biased.

Lincoln beat the Chi-Town sirens by a considerable margin, it wasn't even close. When I left half way through the third period during an injury stoppage for a Chi-town player, Lincoln was up 109-58.
The after party going on simultaneously at two bars was a good time. It was standing room only. I believe I was still a little drunk when I got up this morning.
