I am curious to know if there are any programs that can rip audio from a DVD to some sort of mp3 etc. because I have two albums that are only released on DVD-A.

I've used VirtualDub to extract all the audio on a movie to an mp3.

I've been using DVD Audio Extractor. It's worked wonders for me.

Have done very little just-audio rips. Normally what I do is for iPod videos, so the process is a bit more involved.

DVD Decrypter to rip the .VOB files (audio + video)
DGIndex project to create the .ac3 audio track
BeLight for convert to wav (also supports mp3 and other filetypes)
