"Wave Of Mutilation" to be exact.

Damn, when that song came out, there wasn't a commercial station anywhere in the country that would touch that song. It was too "weird". And now it's beng played for nostalgia/retro purposes. And it doesn't sound "weird" at all.

Just a strange occurance that I thought that some of you could relate to.

Me too.
VF bassist came to perform and speak at my HS back in 1985, during that time.
People were scared.

I think the biggest shocker to me was this--> (obscure to mainstream)

i use to be a huge RHCP fan back in the day (up until and including mothers milk).....i went to a "dance club" thing for teens, and was slow dancing with this girl. i asked her who the hell it was, and she responded, Under the Bridge by RHCP...i was like whoa....

I dunno. I remember the surf version getting some play around 90-91 due to the success of the movie Pump Up the Volume.

Then again, the rock station here, 99X, was actually pretty cutting edge back then as far as commercial radio went. Now it is a complete embarassment.
