It's pretty interesting how even though I have not completed my download, yet I am uploading it to others. It's pretty much the bomb.
I found a great site (in Swedish) to get tons of movies and tv shows from.

I'm now getting Sledgehammer episodes 1-5.

On deck:
The Office - Seasons 1 + 2
Lost - Episodes 1-12
The A-Team - First Season.

Suprnova was a staple bit torrent site for me although I was in it more for the software and occasional tv show. Now that it's gone I haven't found a reliable replacement.

I love it... I, too, have DLd all of the Lost episodes. I also found a great version of The Incredibles. Watchable versions of Life Aquatic and Limony Snickets. Really pay attention to the user comments... as a lot of this is garbage.

Lokitorrent.com is a great site to find lots of stuff. I signed up for supernova two days before it died. They still cashed my check though.

Sledgehammer... used to be my avatar. I love that show... and yes, I do own the DVD set. In fact, I'll ressurect that avatar now.

BTW, there's a great article about BitTorrent in last week's Wired.

Yeh... Pirate Bay is nice. Have you read their responses to the threatening letters they've been getting. Quality stuff.

TJ - how many seeders have you been getting for Sledge? Lokitorrent usually has fast connections, but I could always get faster.

torrentspy.com is a good torrent search site. They don't host anything, though.

I coincidentally got DSL and ran out of harddrive space at the same time, so I haven't been able to enjoy bittorrent to the fullest. Suprnova closed days later. The filesharing gods must hate me.

Bi-torrent.com has the remnants of suprnova. I also check out torrentmatrix.com and easytree.org.

You guys are a goldmine of resources.

I think there were 4 seeders for sledge, it's coming in at 35 kbs. Not bad for just clicking on a link. I'm uploading at 15 kbs.

Edit: I'm using the new bit Torent Beta that doesn't seem to show seeders...like the last version.

Bittorrents are supposedly about the riskiest thing you can take part in right now in terms of file sharing. No security as I understand it.

I've never tried it though b/c I don't really care about downloading movies.

oh yeah, and as far as what programs to use, i wouldnt be caught dead using the official bittorrent client. there are many others that offer far more options. go here and check some of them out for yourself. and bittorrent is just as secure as any other network. so far the **aa's havent gone after any particular users, and i dont think theyre going to start since its not as easy to go after users as it once was. i say, if you live in the us, worry a little bit. if you dont, you dont really have any reason to worry at all.

I'm not quite sure what the deal was with suprnova. There was suprnova.org that was free and as far as I know an imposter site that charged users, some other name variation that looked identical to the free site.

I can never get the amazing speeds out of bittorrent that people rave about. My system is apparently well configured, but my downloads top off about about 50kb/s, even on well seeded torrents.

Ehh, it's better than dialup speeds, so I don't care that much.

for fast torrents you need seeders. the more seeders, the faster it should go. that might be some of the problem. another problem might be that if youre using the official client, try another client that can limit upload speed, since uploads can hamper your ability to connect to more seeders.

suprnova.org was the official site. there were other people who registered suprnova.com and .net, who were trying to capitalize on .org's success. it said in the title to .org that .com and .net were scammers and you should only go to .org. its all academic at this point though, anyway
