I'm checking them out tonight in Asheville and wondering what to expect. I'm curious on the sound level (earplugs required?) and their set length, in particular.

Any help/word appreciated. Thanks.

jealous, as i really, really want to see them live. my friends who have seen them tell me they're kind of loud, so it won't hurt to have ear plugs with you. worst case scenario, you can always take them out. and they also tell me that they're awesome, so have fun.

The record store who is bringing them to town is promoting them the show as "a chance to see your new favorite band".

Granted, one of the owners is just projecting - his two current obsessions seem to be Black Angels and Belong.

I figure the show will be decent. And hell, for $8 you can't really go wrong.

the record is fantastic, if you've not heard it yet. highly recommended. i skipped out on seeing them in NYC a few weeks ago, as they played the friday of CMJ, at a shitty venue, and tickets were like 30 bucks. they better be back soon.

i caught their gig at the knitting factory (nyc) couple of months ago. i loved it. loud, at times drawn out, can be a bit monotonous. had a doors-type vibe. my friends left halfway through. i stayed for the entire set. some people i talked to love the album but wasn't too keen on them live. others thought their set kicked ass.

Saw them @ SXSW when they were the backing band for Anton Newcombe (the rest of BJM never made it to the show) and I was really impressed. Not overly loud, but they kept it interesting and didn't drone on endlessly. Sets there were limited to 40 mins, so that's all they played.

You'll have a good time.
