. 24 hour drives to / from Texas are a bitch, but an adventure at the same time

. Saw lotsa deer at night, even saw a couple of bobcats...saw gruesome roadkill too.

. Thank you to Colin, Phil and Deena for their hospitality -- wish we could've stayed to eat, but we needed to get as much daylight behind us as possible.

. I could use one more day to recover.

. Returned home to have almost all of the details done on being a homeowner.

. Glad to see you kids behaved yourselves. ;)

On the morn of nov 1, I decided to fly up and surprise my dad on his 59th b-day with a visit from his son. I called his boss-friend and got him off work, then met him at work Nov 2 with reservations to his favorite restaurant and my gold card..
happiness ensued.

priceless.

Other roadtrip tidbits:

. Got bitten by bedbugs in some shady Houston hotel

. Ate at one of the BEST restaurants in NW Houston -- Harris County Steakhouse. Wish I could've eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner, unfortunately, only got to make it for breakfast.

. Encountered a rude asshole of a Border Patrol agent near Laredo, Texas. He was obviously having a bad day. He would've had a better day if the stick up his ass had been removed.

Oh thanks for the encouraging words! I think I'll go home now and soak in lye.

I thought they were flea bites at first, but these don't look like any flea bites I've ever had. Then again, everything IS bigger in Texas. My niece was also bitten, sis was not.

Yeah, that's a great candidate setup story for "whoops I got scabies." I'd see somebody, or at least peruse the right aisle at CVS.
