Been a fan of this guy's music and poetry and presence and interviews and acting for a few years now. He was at my school (Portland Community College) today, and um. I love him. He's so amazing. He only recited 3 poems, and the rest was mostly q&a, but he never had a dull answer to a dull question. Everything was so...geez. So many stories and it's great.

I'm gonna go see him tomorrow at Portland State University, cuz he'll be mainly reciting poems.

Saw him over summer/fall at Amoeba & I was dissapointed that he played with a band. I prefered an earlier preformance by himself a few years back. I know Tania was there (& maybe Dri) that magical midsummers night @ the Getty. How is his latest anyone know? (I think I asked this before & forgot the answer I got).

Funny you posted this, because a friend of mine invited me to his Portland show on Friday. I can't go, unfortunately. Have a good time!

Well if you don't like how he sounds with a band, you might not like his new album.

It's very rock oriented. Very in your face. More sing-songy and mc-like. I thought it was annoying through 2 listens. When I listen to it now, after I have already made my list...it has grown and would be quite a bit higher. It's really all over the place.

It's not really a show though, it's more of a "presentation"...free of charge and it goes hand in hand with MLK day. But he just spoke and recited some of his works.

The video is cool too. That song has been stuck in my head for like 3 days.

I remember that night, Damen...and you're right, it was a magical night. I basically just stood there in awe listening to the wonder that is Mr Saul Williams.
