I swore i'd delete this fucking thing after hearing it was a transcode, but i'm drawn to it over and over and over again. I can't get away from it. My trash bin is telling me to keep it, and my ipod is having an affair with it.

After having this in rotation the past few weeks, I've come to the conclusion that this album is just as good as Silent Alarm, if not better in some spots (particularly "Song For Clay" & "Uniform"...2 of the best tunes they've ever written imo). Sure some will say "where has the punk edge gone? why are they so sappy? (Kele sings "I'll love you in the morning...when you're still hungover)" well it's still there, and while yeah there's a bit more, erm, emotion on this at times, it's done so well, and it sounds dead honest.

the songs and playing on this album are fucking outstanding, especially, once again, the drumming.

god damn i love this band. i can't believe i have to wait for 2 more months to buy this.

anyone else been listening to it?

same here actually. i was really let down on first listen. it wasn't until i spent some time making out the lyrics, and really getting into the songs and playing that i realized just how ace it is.

When you transfer music from one low quality format to another. For example, take an AAC from itunes and re-encode it to an mp3. You end up with even lower quality than you started with.

Same here. I think it has potential, but I don't want to make any judgements until I hear a decent copy.

I've liked what I've heard... I really liked the first album but loved the re mix versions even better - yeah, I know sacreligious - but whatever. Have you heard the group Pull Tiger Tail? They have a Bloc Party -ish vibe going on. Maybe they can tide you over...

i gave it a few listens and i still can't enjoy it

nothing to do with the quality of the rip i think its just because i can't get into the songs yet

its almost like they jumped from being a band i found personable
to some band trying to make cliche profound statement but coming across as over-dramatic amateurs

"east london is a vampire it sucks the joy right out of me"

oooooooooh a vampire city
check out my bangs
im so sad in my car and tight pants

but-ill probably give it a couple more shots
maybe something will click as winter rolls in
i don't want to give up on them

terrible lyric - almost sounds like something K-Fed would write if you changed a few words

The paparazzi are vampires/They suck the joy right out of me/Just like my son sucks Britney's teat

"there was a sense of disappointment as we left the mall
all of the young people look the ... same"

maybe it's not even so much the lyrics
but more of the ridiculous dramatic confidence behind it that bothers me

these guys ate too many retard sandwiches
