Eagles Of Death Metal band leader Jesse "The Devil" Hughes has vented his anger at Axl Rose, saying the singer is "fucking out of his mind" after his band were thrown off Guns n' Roses' US tour.

However speaking to NME, Hughes said he was "shocked" by Rose's reaction when he branded them "The Pigeons Of Shit Metal", and then sacked them from stage during a recent gig at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena.

"Axl Rose is fucking out of his mind," raged Hughes. "He wasn't even there when we played. He got there about 30 minutes after we got done playing. He waltzed on to the stage and went nuts.

"He had a couple of fans thrown out for pissing him off. Then when he called us The Pigeons Of Shit Metal, Tommy Stinson, their bass player took his bass off and goes: 'Fuck you, that's it'. And then he threw his bass down. But then Axl picked up his bass and fucking threw it at him dude. It was a fucking circus up there."

Despite reports claiming that his band were thrown off the tour for the poor reception they received, Hughes said by the end of the show EODM managed to win the fans over.

"By the end of the night that guy [Rose]had caused a giant uproar," said Hughes. "It was like a total mutiny on the part of his band and everyone. I could hear screaming in the dressing room, 'Those are our friends and you've insulted our friends'. Then at 4am in the morning our tour manager gets a phone call which essentially amounted to: 'Axl's thought about it, he thought you guys were a band getting shoved on his tour from the label. He's really sorry and you're more than welcome to finish the tour'.

"When my manager told me that, I just said, 'You can tell that motherfucker to go and fuck himself because I will never go through that again'."

question for the fans:

does horseshit like this affect your appreciation of his past work?

cause if an artist i liked did that, i think it might affect how i feel about them negatively.

No, he's always been an asshole. If I held that particular stance I'd probably have to flush half my collection. Miles Davis was apparently a dick as well, but no one holds that against his music.

i'd agree with this. i find more and more that i dislike the people behind the music that i like. based on interviews and youtube clips, i've been turned off by so many musicians as people. it's disappointing, but i don't listen to them because they're good people. i listen because i like their music. although, it's definitely an added bonus when musicians, even ones i don't care for, are nice people. ironically enough, i've never heard anyone say anything less than great about sebastian bach (opening for g'n'r).

Not really. It just makes me embarassed for him. He apparently doesn't even know how bad he sucks and how little people care.

Appetite and GNR Lies are rock solid. Not much they could do to tarnish those for me other than start stumping for white supremacists or commit crimes against me or my family. Even then I'd still probably start whistling Patience when it came on.

BUT, it does make me view Use Your Illusion I and II a bit differently. There are some really BAD songs on those. Seeing this Axel now, you can get an idea of why Slash and Izzy got fed up with him. Not only a complete asshole but wanting to go in a shitty direction.

Still fond of November Rain when drunk.

It works the opposite way, too.
I love GnR, but hate just about everything else about Axl.

And I cannot stand the Dave Matthews Band, but every time I see Dave interviewed, he seems like a very cool guy who I would like to hang out with (as long as he stays away from the bottle, apparently). Still can't listen to his music without cringing.

I think GnR could have been a really good band. I never could stand Axl's voice or the bulk of his lyrics.

What a knob.

Still, Pigeons of Shit Metal's lead singer looks like a paederast, or Lewis Grizzard -- neither of which is very metal, mind you.

I don't take it too seriously. I just think it's funny.

I guess I have a high tolerance for this, because I can certainly imagine not supporting an artist who does something egregious, like give money to republicans or something.

Man, this new GNR is going to self-destruct before it even gets off the ground. Should continue to be entertaining though...

When's that new album due out?

Tommy should've clocked Axl in the head with his bass.

Given his upbringing, i.e. rocking with his older brother from age 12, I think Tommy, while irritated that Bill Bailey slagged a band popular with fans of bands such as the Replacements, prolly just wanted to show his displeasure, then let it go. He should know that raging drunks & no-accounts are prone to odd behavior.

Axl's so insulated and brain damaged he probably doesn't have a clue that EODM and QOTSA are bigger than he is right now.

That's just not true if you mean bigger than Guns N Roses (the band or rather, the "brand" not just Axl, the individual) because they arent in terms of how many tickets they would sell and how many albums they sell.

I just meant in terms of relevance and whether or not people think they "matter."

I can see Axl pulling the rock diva bit of "who the fuck are these guys anyway" when the rock world already knows who the fuck these guys are.

totally agree with you there even though I guess he did have the sense to hire Tommy Stinson AND some dude from Nine Inch Nails (also Matt Sorum at one point) so its safe to say he has his finger on the pulse.

Also, I read a review of some recent G'N'R show in New Jersey and it sounded like it would be a really fucking awesome time.
