isolationist governments? im talking about the two main examples of this in the world today, north korea and myanmar (burma). im fascinated by the cult of personality these leaders create, like the red guards in china or the way stalin and kim jung il were/are worshipped. for example, like how when the first golf course in north korea was built, kim jong il was the first to play it and he got a hole in one on every hole for a score of 18. i mean, the fact the people actually believe crap like that i feel is fascinating.
Having lived in S. Korea, I always found N Korea very fascinating in a creepy ass way. I've actually "been" to N Korea ( there goes my political career). You can visit the room at Camp Casey, IIRC, where they negotiated a lot of the cease fire, and walk around the table, where the mic wires form the border. They then give you a certificate that says you've been to N Korea.
It's so strange because S. Korea is a vibrant culture and economy and N Korea is a fucking dead zone. Ever look at one of those pics of the earth from the sky at night? S. Korea is lit up like a Christmas tree and N. Korea is dark as a dungeon. Bizarre, yet fascinating.
