**WARNING, CONTAINS SPOILERS**

This always bugged me about the Robocop saga, His gun. If Robocop's gun is to be believeable in a reality setting, then the specs for it are way off. According to it's specs, it's chambered for '9mm' Of course the ever popular 9mm 'Parabellum' round. While this is the round used for the prop to make the Auto-9 on screen, Being the Beretta 93 pisto. In the film's reality it should be chambered for something bigger judgeing by the damage it does and how accurate his shots are.

First is the shooting range where he first see a fresh Robocop trying out his pistol for everyone to see. The guns everyone else was using were also chambered for 9mm, they all made holes the size of a dime, While the same round for Robocop's gun took out huge chunks of the cardboard targets. These are clearly not groupings of 3 round bursts which the prop is designed to do as the bullet profiles are all the same which is impossible with repeated shots. Also when he shot one of the rapist through the woman's skirt, it clearly shows only one hole. A shot of that kind with 3 round bursts would be pretty stupid anyways, yet the damage remained the same. The exit wounds shown on shot enemies were much too large to be believeable for 9mm rounds when we see Joe Cox (the black annoying criminal) and Dick Jones when they are shot. It's important to note that Dick Jones also had single rounds hitting his body and not 3 hits at a time which discounts the 3 round burst theory which means if the Auto-9 even does have 3 round burst capability, Robocop never uses it. One of the most stunning displays of it's power was in Robocop Prime Directives:Resurrection when Cable shot Carver's hand off it literally severed his hand. 9 mm rounds aren't powerful enough to do that, they are infact very weak rounds.

Second is the accuracy. 9mm rounds have a flat trajectory of roughly 75 meters before the bullet begins to drop yet Robocop is seen at longer distances with his targetting system showing no componsation for bullet drop with pinpoint accuracy.

Third, Why having a gun so customized and reenforced with so much bulk for accomodating a very weak round. An extended barrel and reenforced chambers which in real world ballistics is used when more powerful rounds are used. Look at a Desert Eagle, right where the chamber is, it's thick with steel precisely to contain the detonation for a powerful round like the .50 AE. The AUTO-9 looks like it was designed with a longer barrel, Reenforced chamber and a thick frame to help combat recoil. These wouldn't be necessary with something chambered for 9mm.

The only advantage 9mm rounds have is large magazine capacities. A Beretta 92 has a 15 round magazine, The 93 has 20. Which would explain why Robocop can shoot so much before reloading. Still the amount of damage done, the accuracy. The design don't fit for that caliber. Unless it's a round manufactured exclusivly for Robocop. I'd say the Auto-9 would be chamabered for something along the lines of .50 AE, .44Mag or minimum .45ACP which would justify the damage and the accuracy, AND the gun's reenforced design.

To me the opening of R2 is the best intro to a character ever. Every time I watch it I feel like I'm watching it for the very first time.
