I doubt anyone else has been watching, but this shit has been hilarious so far.

That had another one of those digital shorts on par with the "Lazy Sunday."

Yeah, I just started watching this with Josh. JT is hilarious. The skit with the skeevy guys singing "Dick in a box" was nuts.

And of course my husband loved seeing the Barry Gibb skit. He's always loved that and that made his night.

As I have no cable, nor ambition after a long day, I watched the entire show -- though not closely for good reason.
The show was mediocre.
Dick in a box? For fucks sake...that's the best they have?... It appeared to be.
I mean, I thought they were gonna rip off mr. show with the whole white man r&b bit,
then they revert to a dick joke. great.
That show needs some fucking focus.
Maybe they need to do this show about once a month.
Where are all the decent writers these days?
--definitely not on SNL. Almost on par with MAD tv.
Seems like these skits are created during a brainstorming session when someone thinks is a good idea to write a sketch around a random talent that one of the other cast members has, i.e. funny voice, dance, face...
Then someone writes a skit with no comedical content besides repeatedly using the one 'joke/quirky talent' that was never a joke to begin with. With decent writing it would make it part of the joke, instead of 'the' joke.

I also enjoyed the piano prop Timberlake used. Him playing the piano was the equivalent of a 7 year old's recital. Fingers that are stiffer than my cock right now. Whoa!

Yeah, from what I've seen, the have some decent comedic actors, but the writing has been really unimaginative and lazy.

Nobody ever mentions shitcanning Lorne Michaels and they probably can't and maintain the SNL brand, but maybe the man's day is over.

You think maybe this has less to do with the quality of SNL and more to do with the fact that back then you were still a zitty know-nothing knob in high school?

SNL did have "Dick In A Box" but MADtv had a pig shitting and pissing on the floor... it's really too close to call...

but the first snl show in January is going to be Donnie Darko and the Shins, so hopefully that'll be cool.

Considering he's not really on camera talent nor a writer that the show leans on (he has 7 writing credits in 30+ seasons) that wouldn't solve anything. Also, it would never happen because 11:30 to 1am slot on a Saturday isn't exactly a high priority.

The show just doesn't have the top end talent they've had at times in the past, it's always been cyclical.

For those of us who can't hit Youtube at work (or don't feel like watching an entire video just to get someone's point,) can someone just spell it out rather than going "Mr. Show! Mr. Show!"? Just say it, please.

um, it's exactly the same thing. in fact it looks like the snl short characters used david cross' character (pootie t.) as the template for their look. the only real difference i can see if that they don't beat same the line to death like they did in the snl short.

You're not seriously suggesting that Mr. Show was the first to do the "white man r&b" thing, as Killer Whaler put it, first, right? Is that the only thing that's similar to Mr. Show?

this is at least the second time they've done this sketch. i think it's good in small doses. i really liked the first one where they talked about meeting each other and i think fred armisen's character said, "i saw him beating some guy up and i thought 'if that could only be me he was punching, but if those punches were little kisses.'" excellent delivery. and then they had an extended moment between them. very amusing.

it's not the first time this has happened. a handful of writers have worked for "mr show" and "snl." i'm pretty sure they got the ok. i mean, i know it's not a good thing to rip off a cult comedy show, but these things happen.
