I recieved it as a Christmas present and I thought maybe it was time to put it to use. The fucker made me really nauseous yesterday, but I think my body has adjusted today. Anyone ever try using this as a means to quit smoking? I'm hopeful and I realize that it's just as much mental as it is physical. Also, I really didn't mean for it to coincide with Ryan's efforts to quit. I feel like Sickboy quiting just to piss Rents off, but it's been sitting on my bookshelf for about 3 weeks waiting for me to start.

I've used the gum before, a similar method, and it worked. Sometimes it even gave me a mild buzz. Unfortunately, most of your addiction will have nothing to do with nicotine but physical association, which the patch can't cure. Every time you can go out and say no all night is a big step closer to never saying yes again.

This from a guy who still says yes a couple times a year.

good luck. it can be done. i quit after 15 years by using the gum and doubling my alcohol intake. even after getting off the gum, i carried it around for a year afterwards as a kind of security blanket. and the alcohol, well...

The only time i nearly quit was when Marlboro Lights were $7.62 a pack at my White Hen, and rising. So i vowed to roll cigarettes. And man, I nearly quit cause I sucked at it, and they were a serious pain in the ass.

Unfortunately, now I'm pretty damn good at rolling, and I can't go back to a filter because I don't like it as much.

Although, my tobacco shop was closed early on Sunday, so i buckled and bought a box of Marlboros and ended up smoking the whole thing that night. Serious cigarette hangover the next day. I forgot what that felt like. I buy a house blend and it's good. It makes me think that Marlboro, et. al. put some seriously fucked up and funky chemicals into cigarettes.

But if the patch doesn't work, try rolling your own and that'll piss you off enough that you might quit. I nearly did just for that reason, and I'd say i've got pretty dexterous hands.

You on the other hand are all thumbs, unless it comes to handling the women.

-Phil

I don't mind... I mean, it burned off some of the hair on my lower back, but I haven't gotten preggers yet.

Just think of all the great music you're going to miss out on when you die in your 50's!
