Where's all the good music gone?

I've just spend about half an hour going through every week of new releases from January to the end of Febuary and I can't find anything to get excited about.

Have I missed something?

All I can see worthy of attention is a Clientele re-release and, at a (cruciate ligament risking) stretch, 'Good the Bad and the Queen'.

Isn't winter barren enough without being abandoned by art!?

I've always meant to check out Deerhoof so I guess I'm going to be forced to now.

Also U.S. releaseses of The Long Blondes and Peter Bjorn & John Feb 6.

Check out the Deerhoof! There's some good stuff on there ("+81" is a good place to start).

Listen to some samples before buying. They're one of my favorite bands, but a lot of people are put off by the chick's voice.

Anyway, this January is looking better than usual for me with at least one release that I'm really looking for to.

The 23rd is a monster of a new release day in the US:

Lee Hazlewood "Cake or Death" - US Release
Caetano Veloso "Ce" - US release
Reissues of the first three Bee Gee Albums
Norman & Nancy Blake "Shacktown Road"
Clinic "Visitations" - US Release
Deerhoof "Friend Opportunity"
Franco & Ok Jazz - two different comps
The Good, The Bad, & the Queen
David Kilgour "Far Now"
Reissues of three Dolly Parton albums including Jolene
The Resentments "On My Way To See You"
Alasdair Roberts "On My Way To See You"
Sonny Rollins "Sonny Please"
The Shins "Wincing the Night Away"
Twilight Singers "Stitch in Time"
Paul Weller "Hit Parade" box set
You Am I "Convicts" - US Release

You people focus too much on new releases anyway. There's tons of great back catalogue stuff out there that few people have. Focus on that during dry spells.

I've got the new Shins in a few weeks and Modest Mouse (presumedly) in March.

That's about it.
