Is there a way to burn songs so they slowly fade in and out of each other? Sort of like the crossfade playback on the hard drive but burning that effect on a disc.

I'm not sure if there is or not. I know when I had the crossfade setting on when I first downloaded iTunes, it caused static on all of the CDs I burned. It took me forever to figure out why I couldn't burn songs I had on iTunes.

Not that I know of, but you can remove "seconds" from songs prior to uploading them into iTunes from a CD. And then burn those versions onto a CD.

I doubt you can do this with iTunes, but you could probably do it in another program like Audacity, save the modified MP3s, and burn them with iTunes.

Thanks for the replies. I think I remember on my old Musicmatch J-box I could fade out on the burn, guess not on Itunes. They'll have to work on that. Oh well.

Sounds like it would work, but I have little enough time for even making a mix. I'll just have to ship the wife and kids away for a few days.

There are a few ways to do segues on burned CDs. The Audacity way is probably the cheapest. If not Audacity then some other multi-track audio app is needed. An expensive way is using Toast Jam, which will let you set overlays and track markers. With iTunes all you can do is burn the entire set as one long aiff/wav and then burn that, but you're left with one long track.

I've got another question. Is there a way to mass delete duplicates of songs from the library or do you have to do it all manually?

My guess is you have to do it manually unless there is a way for iTunes to recognize that a song from an album that clocks in at 3:32 is exactly the same as the one from the Best Of that clocks in at 3:34 or that the version from Merge's sampler CD is the same as the one found on the artist's album.

I also have a question, though. I was talking with Haq last night and telling him that iTunes doesn't display the album's record label. It seems silly to me but there is no way to get that to appear is there? Am I wrong about that or is there a column I'm just not seeing?

It looks like Roxio's Toast 8 can now do segues. (Previously this feature was only available in the more expensive Jam).

Read this post at MacInTouch for some rebate tips. :D
