Debut album out not this tuesday but next on Merge. RIYL Big Star, The Thrills, power pop.

I'm not much of a Big Star fan but I really dig the songs I've downloaded from blogs.

Vital Source just reviewed this. They were not impressed.

That said, I rarely put any stock in the VS reviews.

("Heather Zydek" does sound like a hottie, though.)

it was good, but the set was kind of short because they started 1/2 hour late so they didn't go on until midnight. great energy on stage - 7 people up there (2 of the girls that were playing are in another band, idaho falls, but are just playing their spaceland residency with them).

the music is nothing mindblowing or new, but very enjoyable. i picked up their ep "the dutchman's gold." guess they were formerly called "broke down."

I'm not really feeling the few songs I've heard. I'll probably pass.

Fancypants bought the new album and said he wasn't feeling it either. I've enjoyed what I've heard but would need to hear the entire album to really give an opinion.

Current song of the year: "Down in the Valley"

Picked this up last weekend and have been digging it. There are a couple throwaways but pretty solid for the most part.

I agree. I really like it overall and definitely hear some Beulah and some Teenage Fanclub from time to time. It's nothing extraordinary or anything, it's just a solid pop album. The last couple of songs are a little boring but the rest of the album is solid IMO.

liking it so far on track #4. solid, pleasant pop. "down in the valley" is the obvious standout.
