Remember that plot in Superman 2 (or was it 3?) where Luthor/Hack-mon bought all that land in Nevada because he was gonna detonate explosives in the San Andreas fault line to sink California into the Ocean? Well l it's looking pretty good right about now.

Note - This only applies to the cockasses in the film industry and certainly doesn't reflect upon our beloved Cali posters. But seriously you should look into murdering http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0202406/some of the people behind these films.

it was the original Superman movie!
2 had the villains from the phantom zone (ie. General Zod)
3 had richard pryors badass computer with the scheme from office space.

wait, you're knocking potential film versions of the Transformers and Frank Darabont doing F451 (with assistance from Bradbury)? i don't get the problems with those.

That was one horrible movie and if memory serves Pryor got more money than Reeve. Speaking of which, who the hell would have thought Pryor would outlive Reeve?

Die Hard 4 will own.

And as for the others, Dukes, War of the Worlds, and Assault on Precinct 13 will be comically bad...

Speaking of comics...So many movies being made from them, but they always make money and they ALWAYS SUCK!!

<------Even hates the first Batman. Comic books should stay in their own little world.

Once again, I will assert myself as the one who likes Superman 3 the best, and the person who owns only that movie (out of the 4) on DVD...

I hated every single Batman movie
Superman and Superman 2-Good
X-Men & X-Men United-Good
Hulk-shit
Daredevil-shit
Spiderman and Spiderman 2-good(with 2 possibly being the best(superhero) comic book movie ever)

Okay, I'm bored with this now.

Kev I'm not knockin' the effort, only that they'll only encourage hollywood hacks to keep relying on other people for original ideas. I'm really excited at the possibilities of the Alan Moore movies (conastantine excepted), but fear the repercussions.
Also, there's already several film versions of 451 out there. Remember that goddawful Farenheit 451 that Mel Gibson was involved with? yikes. Not that I count that one, but the first version (the one with Julie Christie in it) does well enough for me.
Also, I'm not sure how to feel about Bradbury these days, even disregarding the slow decline of his work over the years, there is still the fact that he's completely batshit.

...right, but Bradbury hated the version from the 60s and i think Darabont has been attached or responsible for some of the better films of the past decade. ok, the 90s. so on the merits of who is involved, i'm greenlighting my fan appreciation for it. :D

as for taking previous ideas and doing them over, this is hardly a new practice, nor is it even remotely just a Hollywood thing. but i've said a lot about this elsewhere...although h-wood's penchant for glossiness is another subject entirely, which i do find faulty.

yeah, Hellboy was pretty neat. a little bit hollow as it went on, but the opening 1/3 or so was excellent.

big fan of the first Tim Burton Batman, but i suspect that's a result of being a Tim Burton fan.

i'm curious about the aforementioned Alan Moore-penned projects, but considering a)the utter disdain Moore has shown towards his work being transferred to the screen and b)the complete bastardization of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, I remain apprehensive.

also, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory looks like it's going to scare the crap out of me. I can only thank sweet jeebus that they don't show the Oompa Loompas in the trailers I've seen.

They've been trying to make a Watchmen movie since, like, 1989 or so.

About Alan Moore. I think I read somewhere that he had A LOT of say in Sin City. He's listed as co - director forcrissake. So I'm sure he cleared every shot. That movie is gonna be wicked. Mark it down.

That's Frank Miller. And from the preview I've seen it looks pretty awesome. If Rodriguez is willing to give up his membership in the Director's Guild to have Miller as co-director then I'm all for it.

I saw Assault On Precinct 13 today. It was actually pretty good but it's been so long since I saw the original, I'm not sure how it stacks up against it.

As for the latter part of your post, you're just talking out of your ass.

i was gonna give this a chance, being a super obsessed transformers person and all (i refuse to describe myself as a nerd), and then i realised the it involves both the writer of Catwoman and The Core. I know, I know, these were both GREAT movies, but i reckon he's gonna stuff up transformers.....

Nicolas Cage as Ghost Rider

Matt Damon being considered as the Sub-Mariner

and Tom Cruise under consideration for Iron Man.

How can you knock these movies?

Sin City looks really good to me, though I have never read the comic.
