I just got home from a morning of cardio tai box and spinning. two straight hours of working my ass off and not ONE good song to listen to while moving around. Evanescence, the Killers, Gwen Stefani... I have nothing against these artists really, but it's not what gets my blood pumping.

Why is gym music so horrible? Should I look into starting my own indie rawk gym? I'm listening to !!! right now and would much rather punch and kick air to this album. Would there be much of a market for indie gyms? How do those nerds stay so thin, anyway? We could have a PBR smoothie stand outside of the aerobic pole dancing class.

Also, totally unrelated to the gym, I woke up this morning and noticed that I've been sleeping with an obner mix on my bedside table. Who's that mix belong to? Fucking Radcliffe. I feel like sleeping that close to the mix will probably give me panty crickets. Fuck.

Get a portable mp3 player...preferably with headphones. It'll be better than hearing terrible music and that obnoxious trainer yelling at you to keep moving.

But back on point, I was at the gym last Friday night (oh yeah, I'm a part-ay monster) and, for once, they were playing good stuff. THE PLIMSOULS, fer chrissakes. Anyway, I guess the reason they could do that is on Friday nights I'm pretty much the only one in there.

I do think it's a good idea for someone to put on a boxing/ spinning/ aerobics/ tapdance/ whatever type of class set exclusively to some kind of indie music, though. It'd be a good selling point for about 14 people in a city of millions - just enough for a decently small-sized class.

And I wish gyms would just TURN OFF the music in the common areas.

And I haven't even mentioned the Nickelback tour t-shirt.

And the Nike headband.

And the neon green fanny pack.

I never walk into my gym without my iPod, but a few weeks ago they had "Turnstile Blues" from Autolux playing over the speakers with their music video on the TV on the walll. And yea, when I do spinning classes the music usually is pathetic. I hear you.
