"James are back. Still fresh as a daisy. Ready to be the bride not the bridesmaid. With a back catalogue to die for and a bunch of new songs the "Laid" six will be playing live for the first time in 6 years at:

Saturday 21st April - Glasgow Academy 0870 771 2000

Monday 23rd April - Newcastle Academy 0870 771 2000

Tuesday 24th April - Birmingham Academy 0870 771 2000

Friday 27th April - Brixton Academy 0870 771 2000

Saturday 28th April - Manchester MEN Arena 0870 190 8000

Few bands can claim to have been instrumental in 20 years of musical history. James are one of them. From their early EP's for a youthful Factory records, through their pivotal place in the mid to late 80's indie scene, the early 90's Manc-centric baggy scene and the mid 90's brave new world of guitar bands breaking the top 10 and playing arenas, James have been at the forefront of British music.

With a host of classic songs including "Sit Down", "She's A Star", "Come Home" and "Laid", the band's place in UK musical history is already assured. Never press darlings, James nonetheless remain a band that are hugely popular with the public and can claim to have influenced a whole host of artists including Coldplay's Chris Martin as well as touring companions The Smiths, who recorded a version of the band's early single "What's The World", the only contemporary song covered by The Smiths.

Ending on a high in December 2001 when vocalist Tim Booth announced he was leaving the band, James left the stage as one of the country's most successful bands with 10 studio albums, 20 Top Forty singles, and significant success in America at a time when UK bands couldn't get arrested stateside.

Adding to James' illustrious and impressive list of past support acts are special guests The Twang.

The laid Six = Tim, Larry, Jim, Saul, Mark & David.

First Crowded House, now James. Who's next?

This is awesome. Just a few weeks ago I was listening to James and Tim Booth's stuff, mentally comparing them and I had the feeling that we would hear a James reunion before long - and before Booth had another solo outing again. Those boys just need each other, and James just can't go on without him fronting them (thankfully they never seem to have bothered with the threat they made of finding another singer.)

Great news! I Saw James twice back in the day. Once at a club and another time at the Womad Festival with Peter Gabriel. James brings back good memories. Hoping they make a trip across the pond to play some shows. I think I'll bust out the self-titled album and give it a spin. It's been a while.
