I heard a song somewhere and suddenly had to have the disc. When I listened to it in full once, I was disappointed and haven't gone back, but have been meaning to give it a second chance.

(I realize that's not much help)

Timis, that's weird. I got a mix of stuff yesterday as well.

Stacey, I am sort of where you are at. I may like them a bit more than your description but it feels like their songs are floating somewhere in between melancholy and upbeat. The indecision is killing me.

Sometimes one of the girl's voices sounds like Patty Griffin though, which is nice.

Never heard of them.
I guess I should?

Is this a 2006 release that we all should have heard? ;)

To tell you the truth, I don't know how many albums they have or if their last one was released in '06.

they make very very sweet pop music. their voices blend really well and it's safe, but quality songwriting, a very mellow disc.

I am REALLY digging this disc a lot. Those first two songs have got me by the balls somethin' fierce.

But this kind of sappy poppy goodness is right up my alley.

EDIT: THANKS TIMIS!!

There isn't really anything about The Weepies that sounds too original or creative, but DAMN... their vocals blend so well that it becomes a compelling listen.

Yep, they made my top 11.
We've talked before about music that is easy to listen to and enjoy in ----um..."mixed company" i.e. among people with a variety of tastes, and the Weepies are at once satisfying to listen to, not obtrusive to, say..a phone all from an important/uptight client, and the voices are wonderfully dare I say: "twee" but not saccharine. Check 'em out...pms welcome

Busty brought this over last night, then basically put me in a headlock until I got it downloaded onto my computer and then put it on in EVERY ROOM, at high volume.

I like it. Think "East Mountain South" but a little better.
