inspired by another thread...in your opinion, what is the first great album (list one) of 2005 that you have heard?

my vote:

matt sweeney and bonnie "prince" billy.superwolf

i think that the only 2005 albums that i've heard are Outside Closer by hood and Dignity and shame by crooked fingers, and while i like both i don't think that either are great.

Again...;)...Buena Vista Social Club Presents Manuel Mirabal.

EDIT: I can't wait for the Bonnie "Prince" Billy album either. Should be awesome.

The only one I've heard so far is the ODB "Osirius: The Mixtape"...

I think something I want needs to come out soon so that that can stop being my top album of 2005....Soon....

nothing yet. but i know there are a few things i'll be enjoying: the Doves, Night Rally/Clickers EP, and of course, the full length from the Bon Savants. hahahaha, just kidding, it won't be better than an 8.0.

i've heard & liked m83, josh rouse & fiery furnaces new ones, but nothing i'd label "great" yet. bright eyes (2), stars and tori are upcoming.

Bloc Party - Silent Alarm

Hands down the best release so far this year IMO.

Another really good album is Hood - Outside Closer.

Bloc Party isn't till March...
I think I'm going to have to buy those Bright Eyes albums just so that I have something besides the ODB album...
I've also heard that The Game's album is pretty good...

i'm really not understanding the love for these guys. it sounds pretty indistinguishable from the other similar releases of that genre resurgence to me, although "people claim" (to use a fox news tactic) that the live show is where they separate themselves.

Hmm, it'd be nice if I had any '05 stuff, but I don't. Not yet. But, I'm going to pick up The Bravery- Unconditional EP... that'll have to suffice til their March release.

dunno man, just something about them that seperates them from the pack. the singers voice, the quick changes, tight playing, and the production. i just love it.

I'm not into Superwolf very much at all. It's alright ...

My vote goes to AMON TOBIN's "Splinter Cell Chaos Theory". I've listened to it 50 times and it's still growing on me. So impactful. I can't wait to hear this in surround!!

Also great is SIX ORGANS OF ADMITTANCE's "School of the Flower".
