Jesus, why ME?
's what I was thinking.
And I.
It's actually a kind of funny story, the poor guy. He's the kind of person who would never touch a PC, nor know how to turn it on, if not for having to use one at work. Their home PC is only ever used by his wife, from my understanding.
The other day, his old $25 cd player broke, and he was talked into buying an iPod nano, the car radio accessories, and a damn nice case by a smooth talking salesman at a local store known for their pushy sales tactics. Unfortunately, when he gets his new toy home, and hooks it up to his wife's PC, he discovered that iTunes only works on Windows 2000 and XP. So he gets back in his truck, drives the 80 miles into town, and buys an XP home upgrade, the same day Vista was released, btw...
He returns home, puts the XP disk into his wife's computer, and then finds out that the system doesn't meet the requirements for installing XP. Which is probably a good thing, as he would likely have wiped out all of her home business files had he been able to upgrade.
So now he's spent over $350 dollars trying to replace his $25 cd player... I came into the office today to find a pile of stuff at my desk - his wife's CPU, every useless CD that came with her PC in 1998, the XP box... and a one-word note - "HELP?"
I really hate to tell the guy that their PC is long overdue for replacing... after all, whats another $700 at this point?
ANYWAY, I see that winamp has iPod support built in to versions after 5.2, and still supports Windows ME. I'll give that a try. Thanks to everyone for the help...
