Someone started this topic on another forum I belong to. He asked the question,

"Who gets jealous? And if you do, how do you stop it?"

So who gets jealous among you obnerites? How do you deal?

I'm so jealous of hipinion right now.

i get jealous of people who are so creative with their threads.

I agree. But I know people who say they don't. Here's my 2 cents:

Jealousy is very real. And I think it's a human emotion you can't turn off.

My feeling is that when people say "love is hell", they say it for a reason. We're human and subject to the flawed responses that accompany strong, intimate affection for someone. One of these accompanying flaws is jealousy.

I think it's always going to be there. It's all in how you deal with it. I think there has to be some serious mutual respect for each other's feelings and how certain actions and reactions makes the other feel.

I have met people who say they "don't get jealous". In my experience, almost every single one of them has never been in a long-term serious relationship. They don't seem to connect or really commit to anyone. Either that, or they were once in a serious relationship where they got burned big time and just don't trust new partners to any capacity that will allow them to commit to a level where their heart is really on the line. I'm sure there are people who are so laid back and confident that they really don't get jealous. It must be nice. But I wonder, if you are that type of person, if you sacrifice the full potency of certain other emotions to have that carefree kind of confidence.

Either way you want to be is cool. I wish I didn't get jealous.

My wife for years loved to talk about how she was absolutely never jealous. Then, some cute Ferench girl in a bar was talking to me and decided to give me a hug, prompting the wife to give her a stern talking too...and by stern talking to I mean drunken screaming about what vile creatures the French are while threatening her life and insulting her personal grooming habits.

Now, she claims to absolutely never be jealous ever. She just hates the French.

Really though, either of us could be pushed into being jealous, but neither of us are particularly prone to it. In the end, we're both quite sure that we're about the only ones that could put up with the other anyway.

Prone to it. Not proud of that fact, but it is sadly true.

I think if people can find contentment and comfort with themselves, your less likely to be jealous of others.

On the other hand, I'm jealous of millionare trust fund kids (i have a few friends), who are financially set for life, and basically do what they want on a day to day basis.

And I'm jealous of guys who look like ("hmmmm, who do all the girls fawn over these days???? Ahh yes, Morgan Freeman") and can basically have any girl they want.

Also jealous of those with:
money
parents/family who buy them things
lots of romance swirling around them
college degrees
advanced degrees

But then I sit back and look at my life and realize that I have it better than a lot of people, even without the above. I have the internet and that soothes my poor, sad aches and pains.

You think this is true of a relationship / love kind of jealousy?

Like say, for example, you've been with someone for years. You are in love with them, share your life with them, etc. Then one day, out of the blue, they up and leave, and are almost immediately in a relationship with another.

I don't care HOW comfortable and confident you are with yourself, if you aren't jealous in that situation, you need to check your pulse. Your condition goes much deeper than just being content and comfortable with yourself. You have some serious issues.

Jealousy does not equal envy, folks. Just sayin'.

No, if they leave you, and immediately go with someone else,, there goes the contentment in your life....

maybe i meant it in a more material way......if you find happiness and contentment with your own life and stuff, them you wont be as envious/jealous of others....
