Well, this has been up for awhile (Jan. 1), so forgive me if you've already read it...

from their myspace:

Quote:
Earth have finished the recording and mastering of their latest album tentatively entitled: " Hibernaculum". The audio material consists of (3) old Earth classics redone in a different, stark and clean tone (ala the "Hex" material) plus the track "A Plague of Angels" which was previously available on a rare tour only 12?. The album will be a special 2xcd package (1 cd and one DVd). With the audio mentioned above on one side and a Earth documentary filmed by Seldon Hunt on the other. The documentary features many interviews with Dylan Carlson and live footage from the groups 2006 European tour.

Track-listing is as follows:

CD SIDE:
1. Ouroboros Is Broken
2. Coda Maestoso In F (Flat) Minor
3. Miami Morning Coming Down
4. A Plague of Angels (2006 mix)

DVD Side:
- Earth Documentary with interviews and live footage (filmed by Seldon Hunt)

..stay tuned for more info coming soon.

Apparently Hibernaclum is just a taste! Woo.

By the way, let me be the first to nominate that as the best album title for 2007--THE BEE MADE HONEY IN THE LIONS SKULL

Quote:
EARTH is back (!!!!) in the studio this month recording tracks for their forthcoming album entitled: “THE BEE MADE HONEY IN THE LIONS SKULL” due later in the year on Southern Lord. The initial tracks are being recorded at AVAST(2) in Seattle, WA. Making a guest appearance on three tracks of the album is legendary guitarist Bill Frisell!
Also available from EARTH on March 20th 2007 is their latest album: “Hibernaculum” a special CD and DVD packaged release. Order the new one now via Southern Lord online or look for it at your favorite local record outlet.

The attention I've given to "Hibernaculum" so far has yielded great things.

I really want to watch this. I cannot wait. This is the DVD that is attached btw to Hibernaculum for those who didn't know (i.e.--other than Ish)

I'd like to know what more people think of this. I almost picked it up tonight but got El-P instead.

Just watched the DVD. Interesting to hear him talk about the influence of LaMonte Young and Indian raga. He's bang on when he says that Hex is 10 times the album Earth 2 was.

Despite having the album for weeks I finally sat down and watched the entire thing. Carlson is very, very grounded. It seems at points like if you lived next door he would invite you in to record with the band. I wish the equipment used to shoot this would've been better. Kind of a pity in a way. I enjoyed the way he spoke about how he just kept plugging away and eventually people perked up and noticed. You have to admire his dedication, since drone hasn't always been the flavor most requested.

Yeah, I listened to this at about 4 AM, pretty shitfaced the other night. It sounded really awesome then, so I figure it'll sound really awesome when I actually sit down and pay attention to it.

and I reiterate what pretty much all of you said. Hex is fucking awesome.
