Nintendo is sending out replacement Wii remote wrist straps.

Quote:
Nintendo is offering to replace the original version of the wrist straps for the Wii Remote with a newer version. We have received some reports that when consumers swing the Wii Remote with the original version of the wrist-strap using excessive force and accidentally let go, the cord connecting the controller to the wrist strap can break, potentially causing the Wii Remote to strike bystanders or objects.

And if you'd like to see the difference between Wii Strap 1.0 and the 1.0.1 security update:

Yeah, I am. I doubt I'll ever break that one I have, but having a back-up strap won't hurt.

But I didn't really post this as an Obner public service announcement. I just thought it was kind of funny.

T-minus 5 hours or so until my son unwraps his Wii, and I get to try it out.

Yeah, I want one but you can't find them anywhere around here (southern Ontario) either.

We're going to have Santa leave the kids an IOU and get one after the new year. I'll be much happier when I can just buy one of these damn things on a Tuesday at 11:30 AM rather than hanging out in the cold outside Target on a Sunday morning.

This is pretty awesome.

God, I wish I'd bought Nintendo stock 4 months ago rather than buying a stupid CD (cert. of deposit, not music).

Just got a wii as a gift over the weekend...now my arm is all sore from playing that damn tennis game. It is a fun little thing though. But, I do wish you could play normal video games on it as well as the last time I had a video game machine the only thing I really played mch was one of those EA soccer games.

Well, you can. You can either download old ones or you can play Gamecube games on it.

I have one, too, and it's pretty awesome. I got it a little over two weeks ago, but I haven't had a whole lot of time to play it. When I have, it's been mostly Wii Boxing, Zelda, and Wario Ware which I just got a few days ago. That game is hilarious and really, really fun. I'm just afraid the fun is going to wear out a little too fast.

i tried renting a gamecube game, but while it would load, the controller wouldn't do anything. Do you have to use a gamecube controller to play gamecube games?

I think so, yeah. I haven't even tried to play a GC game on mine yet, but I have a GC so I'm not really worried about it.

Mine has stopped reading Wii discs (Gamecube discs work fine). I really should call Nintendo about this one of these days.

Do the controllers for these things eat batteries at an alarming rate?

I just noticed that one of mine is down halfway after just over two weeks.

Yeah, I probably will. Right now I'm still using the ones they came with.

I just got a Wii for my wife's birthday next week. I can't wait to give it to her and kind of want to talk her into opening gifts over the weekend so we can get playing with it. So . . . I guess it's kind of a gift for us, really (I spent way more than I was supposed to - we were supposed to have just a small birthday budget as my birthday is also next week, and our anniversary is in a month, so I figured I'd roll it all into one that I know she's interested in and she'll use this a lot more than I ever will.)
