"Failed State" appears to have been in a memo this week, as he's dropping that left and right.

is this even on yet? I'm not getting out of bed to look at a tie that isn't on TV yet.

I'm trying "Reliable Sources" for the first time this week instead of George Snuffaluffagus.

Already got the "Chris Matthews" show in the bank...my local affiliate changed its time slot to 5:30AM a couple weeks ago.

Don't forget "last, best chance for a solution" which has been in use for a minute now.

who cares about the tie, looks like Graham has had botox or maybe even a skin-pull...

and in his continuing degeneraton of rationality, the quote of the day...

"... I think Sadam thought he had weapons of mass destruction but apparently that wasn't so...." followed by "... Iraq is Sunnis and Shiites wanting to live together under the rule of law..."

Murtha was just as bad by arguing that Sunnis and Shiites will never negotiate with each other, so the only reasonable solution to the problem is a diplomatic one.

Umm... Saudi Arabia and Iran (sectariaan arch enemies) met in summit this weekend to address defusing the sectarian violence that has huge potential to destabilize 6-8 countries in the region. Murtha, annoying as he might be in other ways, is so much closer to a solution than the ostrich-like grahamites. International/regional cooperation (e.g. Iran with Syria and the saudis) is the only reasonable solution for what's happening in Iraq now. Although Kerry was a horse's ass, this is exactly what he was putting forward in 2004.

You're damn straight they met, and they'll continue to meet, because they know that a "loose confederation of states" govenerned by rule of law (i.e. held together just enough to be the second largest oil producer in the region) totally beholden to the U.S. and its allies (since only France would be the only nation shameless enough to try to lay claim to anything after railing against U.S.-led efforts) would fuck OPEC so hard they wouldn't hear their farts for a decade.

They weren't talking about peace and stabilizing the region, they were talking about how to at best split Iraq's oil production, or at worst make sure no one can access it.

That's as maybe, but it doesn't change the current situation--the "diplomatic" situation is a windfall for one of our nation's most dangerous enemies.
