I saw the severed head of St Oliver of Armagh once. God preserved it miraculously for a century or so, but after that they had to creosote it.

The Rijk is my favorite museum in Europe.

I remember that from when I stayed at a hotel directly across the street for about a week. I could wake up, grab a cup of coffee and a giant spliff and go check out some amazing art early in the day.

I was shocked the first time I went in the place at the sheer scale of the paintings. Pictures in books do not prepare you at all to see these fucking moster sized paintings hanging there. That, and the way they work with contrast between the light and dark is much more dramatic in person.

The van Gough Meusum was pretty fucking cool too, but I think I was the only one of my friends that liked the Stedelijk Museum, but I did think there was some amazing stuff there as well.

For music, the Concertgebouw was amazing.

Hell, the whole city's fantastic...even if you don't induldge in it's more carnal pursuits.

If I remember, Thomas Jefferson had a severed head of John the Baptist painting on one of the walls in Monticello.
