Heard it on the radio on the way home from work but got home before they said who it was.

It sounded older. It was VU-ish. Male singer, almost spoken more than sung. Chorus of people in the background. I think "what do we have in common?" was repeated a fair amount.

Google suggests that it could be Iggy Pop.

Huh. I only really know the first Stooges album and 'Lust For Life' so that's surprising.
