I've been thinking lately that I was going to get rid of some expenditures that maybe I don't really "need". Well, this takes XM off of that list.

XM, SEC Sign Broadcast/Marketing Pact

Katy Bachman

MARCH 06, 2007 -

XM Satellite Radio announced Tuesday a five-year broadcast and marketing agreement with the Southeastern Conference for undisclosed terms. The deal makes XM the official satellite radio provider of SEC football, basketball and other sports. Coverage begins March 8 on XM with coverage of the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament.

“As the official satellite radio provider for the SEC, XM is extending its position as the leader in college sports on radio,” said Eric Logan, executive vp of programming for XM.

Beginning Fall 2007, XM will air live broadcasts of football, basketball and other sports from the University of Arkansas, University of Georgia, University of Kentucky, Mississippi State University, University of Mississippi and University of Tennessee. The University of South Carolina will join the XM lineup in Fall 2008, followed by the University of Florida in Fall 2009.

In addition to play-by-play, XM will carry the SEC Football Championship, the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament, the SEC Women’s Basketball Championship and other SEC sporting events.

They do this with the ACC, but sadly I haven't even listened to it since I'm usually watching on TV.

Yeah they've been doing this with ACC, Big Ten, and Pac 10. It's nice for listening to UW games while driving around with out getting a little static on AM stations.

I don't sit in my car a listen to games much either, but now I'll be buying a home connection so I can listen to god damn Larry Munson.

Plus my Dad who lives in the sticks in GA can now listen to the games.

Fuck yeah man, I'm pumped.

Oh this is awesome. I plan on rigging an xm player onto whatever new motorcycle I wind up getting, so those weekend jaunts to SPoetLand can now have a Munson soundtrack.

I heard this a couple weeks ago while flipping around channels; I'm stoked.

My dad was really excited because all he can get on the radio when he is in Florida is Gators and Seminoles.
