Blanco Bows Out of Race from Times-Picayune.

The story says John Breaux hasn't jumped in yet, but I swore I read this past week that he had. I also didn't realize that Bobby Jindal is only in his mid-30s.

Just think…in four more years you can bring back Double E!

Right now the Repubs in LA are using two things against Breaux.

1. He's a Maryland resident and registered to vote there.

2. He's a lobbies for Peru, which is an upcomer in the seafood industry.

I'm a Jindal fan but I'd be happy with either.

It was a good choice on her part, even if she would have won reelection, it wouldn't help LA in the long run.
I have no idea what voter sentiment is down there, but I sure as hell would want to clean house.

for the first time, I don't blame Blanco. She must have picked up some decent advisors, cuz I'm sure the idiot would've run again, otherwise. I voted for Jindal last time. I will again.

I think her stupid ass finally realized that not only would she lose but it would be embarrassing and that there is absolutely nothing she can do to change that.

New era in Louisiana politics? I'm skeptical... but her withdrawal is the best possible thing she could do for the Democratic party here. There is a distinct "throw the bums out" mood throughout the state, including among "rural voters." See definition:

The cruel voter calculus was probably due to Senate and House considerations moreso than anything she may have wanted or not wanted to do. That is to say, it would be an even bigger uphill battle for the Dems to keep control of both houses of the Legislature with her at the top of the ticket. With Breaux, it becomes easier.

Tanner -- I would think that Breaux's popularity may boomerang the "he ain't one of us anymore" talk...but maybe not.

Jindal is a really interesting character. No matter whether he wins or loses, he seems to have a future, either in Red Stick or The District of Columbia.

He's a definitely a force and one of the few people the Dems can turn to right now and have a chance. I've always liked him for blatantly displaying a Playboy on his desk when we visited his D.C. office in High School. Breaux v. Jindal is defintely interesting. And I agree about Jindal.
