Hey you sonofabitch. Shiv, Colin and I saw you downtown on Tuesday but it was raining and we couldn't be arsed to roll down the window to yell at you.

Congrats on the book. Did they even have to offer to pay you to do that one?

I'm reading the Magnetic Fields' 69 Love Songs one right now and it's pretty neat.

Oh I'm psyched about a few other titles, too (Pink Flag, LeMay's Elliott Smith, Mark Richardson, WZ). But that's awesome for Whiney and still completely random about Darnielle. I wonder if he'll get to interview Flav. :)

I forgot to tell you I saw him for a few moments at the Paper Thin Walls showcase in some abandoned building.

And by "prolly" I mean "without question".

I think I had one shining moment of sobriety last week. Probably when I woke up from my coma on the floor.

Left field to be sure, though not because it didn't sell oodles of copies. It probably will be an interesting read. I don't know much about him, other than he's dead.

If it was raining, why didn't you slow down and pick me up?

Also, they pay, but it's not a lot. It's really a labor of love for all involved, and I'm fine with that.

Haha, that building wasn;t abandoned! It turned into a working Amtrack station around 7 a.m. when we were still cleaning up!

Great running into you, btw.

It sure looked it. Who's car was that was turned into the makeshift stage?
I only got to see Kidz In The Hall and The Pack and by then there was no beer so I left. I really should've thought to pick up some booze on the way to the show.

Car was full, yo.
I can't tell you how down I am with this marriage of subject and writer. That's a pivotal record for me and I can't think of a better person to dive headlong into it.
Seriously can't wait for this to come out.

That was Brooklyn show guy Todd P's little car, which now has a caved in roof and hood and tons of Vansprints all over it.

So do you mention how many yards you mowed to that album?

Hahaha... you totally remember that story!

To be totally honest, the majority of my lawn mowing memories involve a tape called Rap The Beat which had Public Enemy's "Rebel Without A Pause" on it (along with choice cuts from Eazy E, M/A/R/R/S, Dana Dane, etc.)... Luckily the book's not going to be about me in any way, shape or form. I'm going to leave myself completely out of it! Not even an intro!

He should sell it on Ebay.

Also, I picked up Mapmaker when I was in Waterloo. Has it actually been released yet?

Intriguing. You may actually get me to read it, now.

No one was doing what they were doing at the time - really shook up the joint. It'd be impossible to clear everything in order to do those songs now...
