the fact that she's touring with the dap-kings now, and they played on the album, is amazing.

Interesting post on soul-sides.com by oliver wang about the racial undertones of her popularity that i think is worth reading.

I will agree with this, but I will qualify: when I saw sharon jones, there was a white guy funk band first, then 1+ hours of the dap kings, and THEN 1.5 hours of sharon jones. By the end I was totally plundered of all my booty and just wanted to take a nap. it was too much funk!

To me this sounds like bad, and overwrought, James Bond theme music + Norah Jones-ish white coffee house guilt lashed together with some "authenticity"
