I feel like compiling some data. (Note: Wow, how incredibly nerdy can I possibly be?)

Anyway, I'm quite tired of the 2004 stuff so, one list I realised you don't see a lot of is...

Your Top 10 Compilations

Basically any album with more than one artist on it. It could be a label's mix, such as a Merge anniversary disc. It could be a box set. It could be a soundtrack. Or it could be a tribute album.

Anyway, post your top 10 compilations here. This shouldn't require a lot of work. Closing date will be Friday, February 4th. And I should have the results available for Monday, the 7th then.

All those Rhino DIY comps deserve consideration.

Those are some pretty horrible attempts at top ten lists.

I don't value compilations enough to make a top 10 list of them - in fact, I eschew compilations in favor of one-band albums most of the time.
I don't know if it's a thing where compilations don't get "Their Due" but, for the most part, movie soundtracks are good for re-invoking memories that are related to the movie, and almost all compilation disks have a dud or 2 that lessen the overall appeal of the disc. If you're looking for new ideas, Rhino and Soul Jazz have put out some great comps that I would reccommend but, for the most part, people tend to avoid them....

My favorite threesome and the top two are must own, IMO:

Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From the First Psychedelic Era Rhino
Nuggets II: Original Artyfacts From the British Empire and Beyond Rhino
Have A Nice Decade: The 70’s Pop Culture Box Rhino

I want the Punk Rock one and will figure out my favorite soundtracks.

I think I was just looking for a good compilation album that year, and I used CDNow.com and searched for song titles I liked, and this the Triple J album popped up, so I bought it. I've been meaning to get more of the Triple J Hottest 100 volumes as well.

Yeah, that's a great series. I've got the Crime Scene, Cocktail Capers, and a few others.
