That song "Charmer" on the new Kings of Leon is the most "pixiesesque" song (in a good way) I've heard since Sugar's "A Good Idea". And the review of the album on AMG sucks, 3 stars and a paragraph...weak.

Actually, I think I'm going to start rating everything like a disgruntled Math teacher. 1-10 scale is so out.

And no, I do NOT accept extra credit.

Steve Albini produced a band called Beachbuggy who did an impressive impression of the Pixies.

I must say, I was not a big fan of Fast Man Raider Man and was beginning to lose faith, but this new album is really good.

Threshold Apprehension reminds me why McLusky gets all those Pixies comparisons. Captain Patsy, Your Mouth Into Mine and Angels Come To Comfort You are also kicking my ass tonight.

After one listen, I liked this, but didn't love it. After 5 or 12 more spins, this is top 10 material for me.

Yeah, I pretty much feel the exact same as you. FMRM was hard for me to get through, being a double album. There were some songs I really dug, but overall I didn't like the sound.

This one, however, I liked it on first listen. Then after about 5-6, I'm LOVING this album.

Anyone else hear the Frank Black fanboys come up with the theory that this is a concept album based on the Dutch musician/artist Herman Brood? Seems pretty accurate based on the lyrics.
