This looks like fun! Why hasn't anyone mentioned it? Or did I just miss a thread somewhere down the line?

I guess I figured someone else posted about it while I was gone.

it's a pretty local thing, but considering the hate Philly gets on this board, I figure it will generate ) interest. I'll probably catch a few shows.

Cotton, it looks like I'll be in the Philly area with a friend some time this summer. You wanna hang?

Maybe I can convince Jon to come along.

Sometimes I struggle with this, but overall, I think I really do like living here. There are certain things that piss me off to no end - septa, city gov't corruption/ uselessness, and probably a few others. All in all, it's a pretty good city to live in.

I have to admit, I know very little about the local scene. I need to check some of these shows out. Any recommendations?

I'd like to check the opening night, and I wish I wasn't so ambivalent about Klaxons so I could hit that making time without feeling like a giant douche.
I think Pissed Jeans would be an interesting show, and the name "Affirmative Action Jackson" is cracking me the fuck up.

I'm shocked that Dr. Dog/Spinto Band show isn't sold out yet....

Chris, that'd be fun. I should be here until late august and then I move out west, but I can tell you that trying to get shiv down here is tough work. Promise to take him to a minor league soccer game.

Asteroid No. 4 supposedly puts on a great show (OPA might be able to confirm this), but then I've never seen them and I thought they'd been broken up for awhile, so who knows. But I'll probably try to make ti to that.

the only artist I really know on the list is Pattern Is Movement. I love love love their cds... their live show is pretty sweet, too... although I suspect that it would be confusing for someone who isn't familiar with their recordings.

I kind of wish I could make that show, actually.

I wanna try and go to the Rock The Bells festival this year. It's pretty expensive though and I may not make it back.

I always thought Pattern is Movement were from Seattle. Turns out this girl I know moved here because of them. hmmm.

Shiv, have you ever seen a show at Randall's Island? It's actually pretty cool, though that crowd would make me want to die.

It's right off the FDR. You can actually see the entire venue from the triborough bridge.

I saw the first Tibetan Freedom Concert there. It was dusty.

I always get lost in Philly. Though Bardo Pond imo would make a trip worthwhile.
