Made a mix for my 66-year old boss with a style of tune I've noticed he likes. So it's got songs by Smithereens, Marshall Crenshaw, Everly Brothers, Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds, etc.

One track he loves is Marty Stuart's "Tempted."

I put it back to back with Long Ryders "Here Comes That Train Again."

And yes, boss, it's pretty much the same song.

Anyway, you ever notice a song more famous than the original that pretty much steals the entire original but with different lyrics?

I mean besides "Sweet Little 16."

Apparently "Can't Help Falling In Love" is based on some old French song.
Arthur Conley's "Sweet Soul Music" is very similar to Sam Cooke's "Yeah Man".
Dixie Cups "Iko Iko" is taken from James “Sugar Boy” Crawford And His Cane Cutters' "Jock-A-Mo".
Led Zeppelin turned Howlin' Wolf's "Killing Floor" into "The Lemon Song" and Muddy Waters' "You Need Love" into "Whole Lotta Love".
Country Joe & The Fish added words to Kid Ory's "Muskrat Ramble" to make “I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag".
Um, John Lee Hooker switched the order of Amos Milburn's "One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer".
Sonny Boy Williamson's "Born Blind" was changed by The Who into "Eyesight To The Blind".
Stevie Wonder's "Pasttime Paradise" was the basis for Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise".
Happy Mondays' "Step On" is basically John Kongos' "He's Gonna Step On You Again", and their "Kinky Afro" is pretty close to "Lady Marmalade".
Flaming Lips' "Fight Test" sounds very much like Cat Stevens' "Father And Son".
Tiffany changed "her" to "him"- does that count? Doesn't really count as more famous though.
