Last night I went to see Neko Case and Jon Rauhouse at the Rococco Theatre hear in Lincoln. It was the first time I had been to the venue which is an old movie house with classic opera theatre style balconies.
The show was spectacular, it was one of the few shows that I have ever attended where the sound was too loud, yet you could hear everything with clarity.
Jon Rauhouse is amazing, that guy plays Steel guitar and Banjo like no other person I have seen. His set was mostly Hawaiian, Surf and classic Rockabilly stuff. Kelly Hogan sang alot of stuff with him.
Then they joined Neko on stage for a show that included two encores. Her voice was much better live than it is on record, which is quite amazing for that to occur. I think the only complaint or comments I heard from other people was in regards to her dress and complete lack of make-up.

I can't wait. I'm going to see her next week at the Bijou Theatre in Knoxville. It'll be my 3rd Neko show. She has yet to let me down. Her voice is better live because it sends shivers down your spine. While her recordings can do the same, it's more about the song/music as a whole, so the complete focus isn't on her voice.
Also, Kelly Hogan is her secret weapon. Her voice is amazing in its own right, and in the live setting creates a doubling effect.
Did I mention that I love Neko Case?

i saw her about a year ago and was not all that impressive. she had kind of a weird setlist and seemed kind of bored. plus i was surrounded by obnoxious talkers.
