Will is my friend
Will sings like John
Goin' back to California

What a cool song. Seems to be lots of love for Devendra around here. I was listening to Rejoicing this morning and this song always just floors me. Can't get it out of my head now. So simple, yet so gentle and sincere sounding. Just a piano and acoustic guitar, but so many quavers and quivers in his voice and delivery. Apparently he said in an interview that he really does have a good friend named Will, and he does sing like that great British bluesman John Mayall, and he's always singing Mayall's "Goin' Back to California". So the song was meant to be kind of an ode to him. Friday fun facts :)

Will is a good friend of mine
with whom I spend a whole lotta my time
the lemon tree
it laughs at me
it's growin' beautifully
the little vine
it won't unwind
and it'll wrap your whole in time
now let's have a glass of wine
now let's have another glass of wine

What a cool song. Seems to be lots of love for Reed Rothchild around here. I was listening to You've Got The Touch this morning and this song always just floors me. Can't get it out of my head now. So simple, yet so gentle and sincere sounding. Just a ripping guitar and some synths at the beginning, but so many quavers and quivers in Dirk's voice and delivery, which makes it "real" for me. Apparently, Dirk once said in an interview that he really had to yell at the recording engineer to get those tapes, and he did once feel true love before becoming an internationally-known adult film star and, although "You've Got The Touch" is about his experiences in the fast lane, this poem was meant to be kind of an ode to the simpler times. Friday fun facts :)

"I love you, you love me.
Going down the sugar tree.
We'll go down the sugar tree,
and see lots of bees:

playing, playing.
But the bees won't sting,
because you love me."
That's it.
